UPDATES IN 8/1/96 BETA VERSION
------------------------------
- Superlist now reminds you if you are leaving a listing without
saving changes
- The "Build List From AN FTP Site Option" has been added to the
main menu. This uses the FTP Genius to guide you through the
process of building lists from defined FTP sites
- The "Retrieve Selected Files From An FTP Site" options has been
added to the View List menus and to the popup menu invoked by
pressing the right mouse button (alternate button) while pointing
to any of the file lists
- A select files found in hotlist function has been added which is
availble when any of the file lists are displayed or when the
popup menu (described above) is invoked
- Additional FTP functions have been added in the settings dialog
- SuperLister now Imports Delta Dir files (.ddd)
- Several bugs in the import/export of Cybernaught files (.clf)
where fixed
UPDATES IN 8/15/96 BETA VERSION
-------------------------------
- Several additional bugs were fixed in the FTP, file comparison, and
file load/save functions.
- A file merge function has been added to allow you to merge multiple
SLD files together. This is helpful when you want to create a
listing that spans multiple disks or mountable volumes.
- Multi-tasking features were added to the FTP functions allowing you
to review results while functions are in progress, abort functions,
and to reduce impacts on the overall system (including general
performance and viewing of graphics)
- Additional "Settings" were added allowing you enhanced control of
SuperLister including default listing and download directories,
"unattended" or automatic FTP functions, verbose FTP error tracking,
and default controls.
- Anonymous was added as the default FTP username and password.
- SLDs can now contain Notes and have their own tab in the Viewer
window. In addition, when listings are created from FTP sites,
notes are automatically generated containing pertinant information
regarding the FTP site (Note: FTP is forward and backward compatible.
This means that you can create notes in an SLD file and it can still
be read by an earlier version that can not interpret the notes due
to the SLD files token stream file structure).
- Files that match your hotlist can still be shown in a seperate list
but in addition, they can be automatically "selected" in the file
view list boxes (files, unique files, and compared unique files tabs)
This is very helpful when retrieving files using the FTP Genius.
- Multiple FTP Genius sessions can run concurrently (watch your
bandwidth!). This means that you can be building a list from site #1,
have two retrieves going against site #2, and one retrieve going
against site #3. The only limitation is that imposed by your TCP/IP
stack (dialer, etc..) and the system.
- SuperLister detects unsaved changes and warns you before exiting the
settings and viewer screens and losing those changes.
UPDATES IN BETA 5 VERSION
-------------------------
- Superlister now will identify all files in the selected subdirectories
regardless of their attributes (except volume labels), this
includes read only, hidden, and system. In addition, a bug was
fixed that caused readonly files with the archive bit set to
be ignored in file listings.
- A full hypertext help file was added to SuperLister.
- A professional install and uninstall was added to SuperLister.
- A bug was fixed that caused SuperLister to "lock up" (keep looping when
connecting to certain FTP servers such as those running the
Vermillion FTP Daemon (version 1.10 was used in testing).
- Changes have been made to the FTP Genius (mole portion) front end
making it easier to view and seperating FTP server messages and
SuperListers, error messages
- When comparing lists, SuperLister now give you the option of
showing matched files that were detected. To enable this feature,
a "Show Matches" setting was placed in the Settings dialog. (Defult
is No)
- When comparing lists, you can now save the results of your "Compared
Unique" files as it's own SLD. When these comparisons are saved
important statistics on the original files and the comparison are
automatically generated and saved as "noted" for the listing.
- When retrieving files from a listing using the Genius, you can now
be prompted to remove those files from the listing once the Genius
has been launched. This feature can be turned on and off through
SuperLister's settings.
- Total bytes received and throughput (kbytes/second) have been added
to the FTP Genius screens.
- A confirmation for aborts during FTP sessions has been added.
- Improvements in gracefully handeling errors during FTP sessions
have been made
- You can now compare any listing against an SLD, CLF or DDD file.
Previous versions only allowed compares against SLD files. This
means that SLD,CLF, DDD files can be loaded and viewed; listings
can be saved as either SLD or CLF; comparisons are saved as SLD
files; and comparisons can be made against SLD, CLF or DDD files.
Note: To save a comparison to a CLF format, first save it as an
SLD, re-open the SLD file, and save as a CLF. Next version will
write a CLF file, we ran out of time.
- A bug was fixed that created errors when retrieving a large number
offiles via the FTP Genius.
UPDATES IN VERSION 1.1
----------------------
- A new menu item was added to the listing viewer screen allowing you
to see a list of all "duplicate files", filenames that appear multiple
times within your listing. This menu item only appears when you
are in the "files" tab since the Compared and Compared Unique views
already filter duplicate entries.
- A bug was fixed that caused FTP Mole to create "0 byte" files when
files were attempted to be retrieved and the server reported an error
or not found condition.
- FTP Mole screens have been enhanced. The Start/Abort/Continue button
is now visible regardless of the tab you are on.
- In addition to overall bytes downloaded, througput rates and overall
progress displayed in previous versions of SuperLister, FTP Mole's
File Retrieve screen will now show individual file transfer progress
(when available).
- In the FTP Mole, files waiting to be retrieved can be deleted by
highlighting the filename in the listbox and pressing the delete key.
- To reduce confusion on which tabs in the list viewer corrlate to
which list, the names of the tabs have been changed to identify an
A list (the main one) and the B list (the one that was compared).
For additional clarification, a panel was added to the top of the
screen that remains visible at all times and reminds you which list
file is A and B.
- Clean up of a bug that occurred when read CLF files with directory
names ending with FILES (e.g. C:\MYFILES). These listing were either
loaded showing files in wrong directories or could cause SuperLister
to report the file as being invalid or corrupt.
- All screens showing directories will now sense disk changes
- A splash screen has been added when SuperLister loads
- A toolbar button has been added for Building Listings from remote sites.
- Due to lack of current interest (only 1 response requesting it), the
UseNet mole menu item has been removed.
- Transmission indicators have been added to the FTP mole retrieve file
function, lights are green when data is being transfered and are red
when dormant. Two lights may appear, the left one shows activity on
FTP's request channel, the right shows activity in FTP data
channel
- Some significant changes in the look and feel of the FTP Genius. The Genius
has fewer screens, remembers settings in between sessions and offers greater
assistance in specifiying filenames, directory names, etc.. Also, a Back
button has been added and the help has been expanded with a tutorial.
- There is no longer any limit on the number of files that you can download
during a single FTP Mole session. Previous versions imposed a 100 file per
session limit.
- A Restart function was added to the main menu and list viewer menu allowing
you to restart your last FTP Mole request. The restart will automatically pick
up changes in the site's settings as well as allow you to delete file, when
retrieving files, that you may have already downloaded before re-submitting the
request.
